and the harsh heavy dark blue jeans
stretching across hipbones
tucked away from prying eyes
and judgmental faces
flashing looks that are at once completely devoid of understanding
and full of a comprehension they can't admit to themselves
permanent
marks of tragedy etched out against porcelain flesh
the everlasting, sempiternal stains
physical reminders of what has splattered across her psyche
biological memoirs
forever imprinted, forever scratched into skin. Scars.
